Non fiction Non Narrative Salinger
Reading this article really helped me connect to Salinger and understand what this book is about. In a sense, it really is like a diary of his life as a teen. He goes through a lot of what Holden does and now I can see where he is coming from. They both had a rough time in school and they both flunked out and ran away and such. The big thing though was that they were both good writers. I think that it is a really good idea how Salinger writes. It almost allows you to enter into Salinger's world through the eyes of someone else:)

Connecting to Holden
I know that it might seem like im copycating... but my topic is about death at a young age too. Both of my grandmas died a year apart. I was in 3rd grade when my grandma Jagodzinski died and 4th when my grandma Stoetzel died. They were my only living grandparents because the rest of them died before i was even 1. It was super hard with them being that close and I had to watch both of them suffer so much through it. I just wanted to do anything i could to make the pain go away but i couldnt. It was hard with my grandma j. I couldnt even go in the room that her body was in. I was fine as long as i wasnt in that room. With my grandma s though, it was a totally different story. She had been my best friend. The one i called when i had a bad day or just needed someone to cheer me up. I was a mess at the funeral home and i was physically gettin sick i was so upset. i didnt sleep for months after it and its still hard to deal with now. theres times where i just cry out of no where because of it.
Salinger does a good job of showing that yes death is sad and scary but you can still see a positive in it and thats always a good thing. Theyre always there as long as you think about them and remember them. This also helped 4 months ago when zoey's grandma died. She had lung cancer and I had know how zoey was feeling because thats basically what my grandma s died of. It really helped both of us through it because i was close to her and her entire family so it really affected me too. I was there when she told me that nannie had cancer and i was there when she was in the hospital and also at her aunt and uncles house the day that she died. i went to the visitation and gave her a hug for as long as she needed when i got through the line. i was almost late for the bus for my volleyball game for it. its really insane now that i think about it how much the loss of one person can affect so many other people in so many ways. take the michael jackson dealth. people went crazy over it. I just like how salinger wrote about how Holden remember his brother and how he was like and such. it just made you connect to him and it let you know how his brother was. it makes you wonder if salinger went through something like that when he was younger...:)

JD Salinger's Legacy
I think that the possiblity of new unpublished manuiscrips that JD Salinger wrote would really impact the American literary society. His one and only novel that was published really affected peoples writing and what students are learning in schools. That novel was writted awhile ago and students are still learing about it n0w. It also changed how writers wrote back then. He used bad language and this offended a lot of people. But after he wrote The Catcher and the Rye, writers stepped out of the box and wrote out of the norm so that writers would totally change how they wrote. I think that it would be pretty cool to see how if they were to publish these new ones, how it would change how writers write. :)

Other Shoes paper...
Other shoesZoey Zara and Missy JagodzinskiThe PlanThis project took a lot of planning and re-planning. It’s hard to choose how you’re going to embarrass yourself in public. In order to prepare for our adventure as “Goth/Punk chicks, we first had to go shopping. Zoey’s mother took her shopping for the supplies. We purchased our outfits from the Party Tree. They were made up of spider web tights, red and black glovettes, and spider veils. Everything was red and black. The next day we got ready at Zoey’s house before heading out. It took us about an hour because we had to Google “Goth hair styles.” We looked ridiculous and felt the same. We then took a deep breath, tried not to laugh at ourselves, and headed out.The ReactionAnyone that knows Melissa and I knows that we are quite trendy people. We usually try to look our best in public and are proud of the classy reputation we have earned from this. So we decided to change things up a bit. We became Goth/punk chicks. It was the scariest and strangest experience either one of us has had. We started off at Steak and Shake. Before we entered the resturaunt we had people staring at us. When we walked in it was even worse. It was like a scene out of a movie when the pretty girl walks into the cafeteria and everyone turns and stares. Except we weren’t the pretty girl. One of the waitresses call us “them” as in, “You can go ahead and help THEM.” Our waitress was very kind because her outer appearance is different too. She was the only person that looked at us like we normal. In fact, she didn’t even charge me for my drink because she wanted to cut us some slack. One waitress stared at us WAY too long. It was highly offensive. This one man even pointed and laughed. Our next stop was Wal-mart. It wasn’t nearly as bad of an experience. There were a few people that stared us down and we walked the isles, but it wasn’t as uncomfortable as sitting at steak and shake. The greeter was at least nice. Next up we decided we’d try out someplace in good old Riverton. So we went to the Dollar General. There wasn’t much of a crowd, so we didn’t get much of a reaction. Anyone that we knew just laughed at us like we were crazy. Within seconds of starting this adventure we both decided that we shouldn’t be so quick to judge. That was what caused most of the stares. People were unfairly judging us the second they laid their eyes on us. And the sad thing is they didn’t even know us to judge. The AnalysisWe were highly offended by how we were treated as we went around town dressed as Goth/Punks. It was amazing how outwardly mean people can be. And the sad thing is, they probably didn’t even realize they were staring or being mean (with the exception of a few). That’s because it is such a common thing to do, stare at someone who is different. The most important thing we learned from this experience is that you should never judge a person by the way they look. Just because they are strange on the outside doesn’t mean that they’re strange on the inside. We were perfectly normal, nice, young girls who because of the way we looked, were judged and thought of poorly.

Other Shoes
Group: Zoey and Missy
Hypothsis: I think that we will get a lot of stares and laughs and such. I think that it will be a lot harder to do than i think because we will have people judging us before they know us and we'll be out of our norm....
Zoey Zara and I dressed up like punk rockers. It is totally out of our norm and it was a very scary and embarrassing experience. We were pointed and laughed at and we got more stares than anyone could ever ask for. People were obvious about it and they didn't try to make it discrete or anything. I know that I would never be able to do that on an everyday basis and I'm happy that I don't have to. It just goes to show you how judgemental people are and I'm really going to not judge people on what they look like because thats just who they are on the outside and not the inside=]
